Ethimin 100 Tablet

Ethimin 100 Tablet is a prescription antibiotic tablet that contains minocycline 100 mg in each tablet. It belongs to the tetracycline class of antibiotics and is used to treat certain bacterial infections when a clinician decides this strength is appropriate. Ethimin 100 Tablet works against susceptible bacteria, including some skin, respiratory, and other infections caused by bacteria. It should be used only for infections that are expected to respond to minocycline.

How it works: Minocycline in Ethimin 100 Tablet stops bacteria from making the proteins they need to grow and multiply. By slowing bacterial growth, this tablet gives the immune system a better chance to clear the infection.

Ethimin 100 Tablet is a higher-strength option than Ethimin 50 Tablet, so it may be chosen when a doctor wants 100 mg per dose instead of splitting the treatment across smaller tablets. Because each tablet contains 100 mg, it is not the usual starting strength for every patient and is generally suited to adults or older adolescents whose prescriber has already determined that this dose is appropriate. It may reduce pill count compared with lower-strength tablets, but it is still the same medicine and should not be used to self-adjust dosing.

• Swallow Ethimin 100 Tablet whole with a full glass of water.
• Take it exactly as prescribed, at the same times each day if your doctor has told you to use it regularly.
• Do not lie down right after taking the tablet; stay upright for at least 30 minutes to help lower the chance of throat irritation.
• You may take it with food if it upsets your stomach, but avoid taking it together with milk, antacids, iron, calcium, magnesium, or zinc unless your prescriber says otherwise.
• Do not crush or chew the tablet unless your pharmacist or doctor specifically tells you to.
• If you miss a dose, take it when you remember unless it is almost time for the next dose; do not double up.

Each Ethimin 100 Tablet provides minocycline 100 mg per tablet. Your doctor will decide how many tablets you need and how often to take them; for some infections it may be taken once or twice daily, but the exact schedule depends on the condition being treated and your response. Do not take more than prescribed, even though this is a higher-strength tablet than Ethimin 50 Tablet.

• This antibiotic can make your skin more sensitive to sunlight; use sunscreen and limit tanning or prolonged sun exposure.
• Do not use it during pregnancy unless your doctor says the benefit outweighs the risk, because tetracycline antibiotics can affect fetal development.
• It may not be suitable for young children because tetracycline-class drugs can affect teeth and bone development.
• Tell your clinician if you have liver disease, kidney disease, or a history of severe antibiotic reactions.
• Alcohol can worsen stomach upset or dizziness in some people taking minocycline.

• Antacids, iron, calcium, magnesium, and zinc supplements can reduce absorption of Ethimin 100 Tablet.
• Dairy products can interfere with how well minocycline is absorbed if taken at the same time.
• Warfarin and other blood thinners may interact with minocycline and need monitoring.
• Isotretinoin or other retinoid medicines should generally not be used with minocycline because of a risk of increased pressure in the head.
• Penicillin-type antibiotics may not work as well together with tetracyclines in some situations, so your prescriber should review the combination.

Store Ethimin 100 Tablet in its original strip/box at room temperature, away from excess heat, moisture, and direct light.
