Crestor 40 mg Tablet

Crestor 40 mg Tablet contains 40 mg of rosuvastatin in each tablet. Rosuvastatin is a statin medicine used to lower LDL (“bad”) cholesterol, raise HDL (“good”) cholesterol, and reduce triglycerides in people who need stronger cholesterol control. Crestor 40 mg Tablet is also used to help lower the risk of heart attack, stroke, and other blood vessel problems when prescribed as part of a heart-healthy plan. This is the highest-strength Crestor tablet in our range and should be used only when a clinician has decided a stronger dose is appropriate.

How it works: Rosuvastatin works by blocking an enzyme in the liver that your body needs to make cholesterol. As a tablet, Crestor 40 mg Tablet is swallowed and absorbed, then helps the liver remove more LDL cholesterol from the blood over time.

Crestor 40 mg Tablet is a high-strength tablet compared with Crestor 5 mg Tablet, 10 mg Tablet, and 20 mg Tablet. Doctors may choose this strength for adults who need more intensive cholesterol lowering and have already been assessed for safety, because 40 mg has a greater risk of muscle-related side effects than lower strengths. It is not meant for routine starting treatment in most people.

• If you take bile acid binders or antacids, ask your pharmacist about spacing doses so the medicines do not interfere with absorption.
• Keep taking the tablet even if you feel well, because high cholesterol usually causes no symptoms.
• If you miss a dose, take it when you remember unless it is close to the next dose; do not double up.
