Pentas 400 Tablet is an antibiotic tablet containing Penicillin G 400 mg per tablet, as labelled, from Intas Pharmaceuticals Ltd. It belongs to the penicillin class and is used to treat susceptible bacterial infections. Pentas 400 Tablet works only against bacteria, not viruses, so it is not used for colds or the flu. A doctor may prescribe it when the infection is likely to respond to penicillin therapy.

How it works: Penicillin G blocks bacteria from building a strong cell wall, which causes the bacteria to break apart and die. In tablet form, Pentas 400 Tablet delivers this antibiotic effect by mouth for infections that are expected to respond to penicillin treatment.

Pentas 400 Tablet is the higher-strength option in the Pentas line compared with Pentas 200 Tablet, so it may be chosen when a prescriber wants more medicine in each tablet. Because it is a 400 mg tablet, it is not the same as a lower-strength tablet that may be used for smaller dose adjustments; your doctor chooses the exact regimen based on the infection, your age, and your medical history.

• Bacterial throat or respiratory infections caused by susceptible organisms
• Skin and soft tissue infections
• Ear infections caused by susceptible bacteria
• Mouth or dental bacterial infections
• Other penicillin-sensitive infections prescribed by a doctor

• Take Pentas 400 Tablet exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
• Swallow the tablet with water unless your pharmacist or doctor tells you otherwise.
• Take doses at evenly spaced times to help keep the antibiotic level steady.
• You can take it with or without food, but taking it with food may help if it upsets your stomach.
• Finish the full course even if you start feeling better.
• Do not take extra tablets to make up for missed doses unless your prescriber instructs you to do so.

Each Pentas 400 Tablet provides penicillin G 400 mg per tablet.
