Tolerab 20 mg Tablet

Tolerab 20 mg Tablet contains rabeprazole 20 mg in each tablet. It belongs to a class of medicines called proton pump inhibitors (PPIs), which reduce the amount of acid your stomach makes. Tolerab 20 mg Tablet is used to treat acid-related conditions such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), erosive esophagitis, and stomach or duodenal ulcers. It may also be used with other medicines to help clear Helicobacter pylori infection and prevent ulcers from coming back.

How it works: Rabeprazole in Tolerab 20 mg Tablet turns down acid production by blocking the proton pumps in the stomach lining that release acid. With less acid, the tablet helps relieve heartburn and allows irritated tissue in the esophagus or stomach to heal.

Tolerab 20 mg Tablet is a full-strength rabeprazole tablet, not a lower-dose starter tablet. Because 20 mg is the standard prescription strength for many adult acid-related conditions, a doctor may choose it when symptoms are significant or when stronger acid control is needed. It is intended for people whose prescriber has already assessed that this strength is appropriate.

• GERD and frequent heartburn
• Erosive esophagitis
• Stomach ulcer
• Duodenal ulcer
• Helicobacter pylori treatment with antibiotics
• Prevention of ulcer recurrence in selected patients

• Swallow Tolerab 20 mg Tablet whole with water; do not crush, chew, or split it unless your pharmacist or doctor specifically tells you to.
• Take it before a meal, usually before breakfast, unless your prescriber gives different instructions.
• If you miss a dose, take it when you remember unless it is almost time for the next dose; do not double up.
• Keep taking Tolerab 20 mg Tablet for the full time prescribed, even if you feel better sooner.
• If you also take antibiotics for H. pylori, follow the exact schedule given for each medicine.
• Use the tablet only by mouth; it is not meant to be chewed like a chewable tablet or dissolved like an oral powder.

Each Tolerab 20 mg Tablet provides 20 mg of rabeprazole. Depending on the condition being treated, it may be taken once daily, and some patients may need a different schedule only if their doctor decides it is necessary. Do not take more than prescribed; your clinician decides the right dose and maximum daily amount for your situation.

• Warfarin or other blood thinners
• Methotrexate
• Digoxin
• Ketoconazole, itraconazole, or other medicines needing stomach acid for absorption
• Rilpivirine-containing HIV medicines
