Aspirin

Aspirin is a salicylate medicine used as an antiplatelet agent at low doses and as a pain reliever or fever reducer at higher doses. It helps stop platelets from clumping, which can lower the risk of harmful blood clots.

It is commonly used for heart and blood-vessel protection, including after a heart attack or stroke in selected patients. Aspirin can cause stomach irritation and bleeding, so it should be used only as directed and avoided in some people, especially those with aspirin allergy, active bleeding, or certain ulcer problems.
