Novastat 20 Tablet is a prescription tablet that contains 20 mg of rosuvastatin in each tablet. Rosuvastatin belongs to the statin class of medicines, which are used to lower LDL (bad) cholesterol and triglycerides while helping raise HDL (good) cholesterol. Novastat 20 Tablet is used to reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke, and other blood vessel problems in people with high cholesterol or certain cardiovascular risk factors. This 20 mg strength is a higher-dose tablet and is meant for patients whose doctor has decided that a stronger statin dose is appropriate.
How it works: Rosuvastatin in Novastat 20 Tablet blocks an enzyme the liver uses to make cholesterol, so the liver produces less LDL cholesterol. As a tablet, Novastat 20 Tablet is swallowed and absorbed through the digestive tract, then works over time to lower cholesterol and support heart protection.
Compared with Novastat 10 Tablet, Novastat 20 Tablet provides double the rosuvastatin dose in the same tablet form, so it may be chosen when a lower strength has not lowered cholesterol enough or when a doctor wants a stronger effect. Because it is a higher strength, Novastat 20 Tablet is not a starter dose for many patients and should be used only after a clinician has reviewed your cholesterol levels, risk factors, and tolerability.
Each Novastat 20 Tablet contains 20 mg of rosuvastatin. This strength is commonly taken once daily, but your doctor may adjust the schedule based on your cholesterol goals, other medicines, and kidney or liver function. Do not take more than the prescribed amount; the maximum daily dose is determined by your prescriber, and for rosuvastatin in adults it is generally up to 40 mg per day when a higher dose is specifically needed and tolerated.
Do not change your dose or stop the medicine without speaking to your doctor.

Novastat 20 Tablet is used to lower high cholesterol, especially LDL cholesterol, and to help reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke. Each tablet contains 20 mg of rosuvastatin, so it is a stronger statin strength that a doctor may choose when a lower dose is not enough.
For many people, Novastat 20 Tablet is not the lowest starting dose because it is a higher-strength rosuvastatin tablet. A doctor may prescribe it when they want a stronger cholesterol-lowering effect or after checking how you responded to a lower strength such as Novastat 10 Tablet.
Swallow Novastat 20 Tablet whole with water once daily, with or without food, unless your doctor gives different instructions. Try to take it at the same time each day and keep following your diet and exercise plan.
Common effects can include headache, nausea, constipation, and muscle aches, and muscle symptoms may be more important to report at the 20 mg strength. Get urgent medical help for severe muscle pain, dark urine, yellowing of the skin or eyes, or trouble breathing.
