Ciplox Ointment 5 g is a topical antibiotic medicine that contains ciprofloxacin, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic, in a 5 g ointment tube. How it works: Ciprofloxacin works by stopping bacteria from copying their DNA, which prevents them from growing and spreading. In ointment form, it delivers the medicine directly to the treated skin area so the antibiotic can act where it is needed.

Ciplox Ointment 5 g is a single 5 g tube size, which makes it practical for short courses or smaller treatment areas. A doctor may choose this ointment when a localized antibiotic effect is preferred and an ointment base is better suited than a cream or oral antibiotic for the affected skin area. Common side effects of Ciprofloxacin may include:
