AF 400 Tablet

AF 400 Tablet is an oral antifungal medicine containing fluconazole 400 mg in each tablet. It belongs to the triazole class of antifungals and is used to treat certain fungal and yeast infections, including infections that may affect the mouth, throat, vagina, skin, or more serious internal sites when prescribed. Because AF 400 Tablet is a higher-strength fluconazole tablet, it is usually used when a doctor specifically wants this dose for a particular infection or treatment plan.

How it works: Fluconazole works by blocking a fungal enzyme needed to make ergosterol, an important part of the fungal cell membrane. With the membrane damaged, the fungus cannot grow and multiply normally, and the tablet can help clear the infection over time.

AF 400 Tablet is stronger than AF 50 Tablet DT, AF 200 Tablet, and AF 300 Tablet, so it is not the same as a routine low-dose tablet used for simple or mild infections. This higher 400 mg strength may be chosen when a clinician wants a larger single dose or a specific regimen, and it should be used only under medical assessment because fluconazole dosing depends on the infection, the patient, and kidney function.

• Vaginal yeast infection
• Oral thrush
• Esophageal candidiasis
• Certain skin and nail fungal infections
• Prevention or treatment of some Candida infections when prescribed

• Swallow AF 400 Tablet whole with a glass of water.
• Take it exactly as your doctor tells you; the timing and number of doses depend on the infection being treated.
• It can usually be taken with or without food.
• Do not crush or chew the tablet unless your doctor or pharmacist specifically says it is appropriate.
• If you miss a dose and are on a repeated schedule, take it when remembered unless it is close to the next dose.
• Do not take extra tablets to make up for a missed dose without medical advice.

How often it is taken can vary from a single dose to once daily or another schedule depending on the infection, and the maximum daily dose is set by the prescriber for that specific condition. • Warfarin and other blood thinners
• Certain diabetes medicines such as glipizide or glyburide
• Some statins, including simvastatin or atorvastatin
• Amiodarone or other medicines that can affect heart rhythm
• Certain benzodiazepines and anti-seizure medicines

Store AF 400 Tablet in its original strip or box at room temperature, away from excess heat, moisture, and direct light.
