Amtas 5 Tablet

Amtas 5 Tablet is a prescription tablet that contains amlodipine 5 mg in each tablet. It belongs to the calcium channel blocker class and is used to help treat high blood pressure and certain types of chest pain (angina). By lowering blood pressure and improving blood flow, Amtas 5 Tablet can reduce strain on the heart.

How it works: Amlodipine relaxes and widens the blood vessels so blood can flow more easily. As a tablet, Amtas 5 Tablet is swallowed and then slowly works through the body to help lower blood pressure and reduce chest pain episodes.

Amtas 5 Tablet is the 5 mg strength, which is a lower strength than Amtas 10 Tablet and is often chosen when a doctor wants a smaller dose or a gentler step-up in treatment. This tablet may be preferred for people who are new to amlodipine, sensitive to blood-pressure medicines, or being titrated to the right dose over time.

• Swallow Amtas 5 Tablet whole with water; do not crush, split, or chew unless your doctor tells you otherwise.

• Do not take extra tablets to make up for a missed dose unless your prescriber instructs you to do so.

Each Amtas 5 Tablet provides amlodipine 5 mg per tablet. • Other blood pressure medicines, including beta blockers, ACE inhibitors, ARBs, and diuretics
• Simvastatin, which may need dose limits when used with amlodipine
• Strong CYP3A4 inhibitors such as clarithromycin, ketoconazole, or ritonavir
• Grapefruit or grapefruit juice may increase side effects in some people
• Nitrates or other medicines that can further lower blood pressure
