Covance 50 Tablet

Covance 50 Tablet is a prescription tablet that contains losartan 50 mg in each tablet. It belongs to a class of medicines called angiotensin II receptor blockers, or ARBs. Covance 50 Tablet is used to treat high blood pressure and may also be prescribed to help protect the heart and kidneys in certain patients.

How it works: Losartan works by blocking angiotensin II, a natural substance that makes blood vessels tighten. By relaxing the blood vessels, this tablet helps blood flow more easily and lowers blood pressure.

Covance 50 Tablet is the 50 mg strength, which is a full adult-strength tablet and not a starter dose for everyone. Because there are no other strengths or forms in our range, this tablet is meant for patients whose doctor has already decided that losartan 50 mg is the right dose or step-up dose for them. It may be chosen when a lower dose is not enough to control blood pressure.

• Swallow Covance 50 Tablet whole with water; do not chew or crush it unless your prescriber says otherwise.
• Take it at the same time each day to help you remember the dose.
• This tablet can be taken with or without food.
• If it upsets your stomach, taking it with food may help.
• Do not stop taking Covance 50 Tablet on your own, even if you feel well.
• If you miss a dose, take it when you remember unless it is almost time for the next dose.

Each Covance 50 Tablet provides losartan 50 mg per tablet. Many adults take it once daily, but some patients may need a different schedule or an adjusted dose based on their blood pressure, kidney function, and other medicines. Your doctor decides the exact dose and the maximum amount per day for you; do not take more than prescribed.

Do not change your dose or stop the medicine without speaking to your doctor.

Common side effects of Losartan may include:

• Dizziness, especially when standing up
• Fatigue or weakness
• Nasal congestion or cold-like symptoms
• Back pain
• Diarrhea
• Lower blood pressure than expected, which may be more noticeable with the 50 mg strength if you are sensitive to ARBs

• Covance 50 Tablet can cause dizziness; be careful when driving or using machinery until you know how it affects you.
• This 50 mg tablet may be too strong for some people starting losartan, so follow your doctor’s dosing instructions closely.
• Avoid becoming dehydrated from vomiting, diarrhea, or heavy sweating, because this can increase the risk of low blood pressure.
• Do not use this medicine during pregnancy; it can harm an unborn baby.
• Tell your doctor if you have kidney disease, liver disease, heart failure, or a history of angioedema.
• Use caution with alcohol because it can worsen dizziness and lightheadedness.
• Do not take potassium supplements or salt substitutes unless your doctor approves them.

• Potassium supplements and potassium-containing salt substitutes
• Diuretics or water pills
• NSAIDs such as ibuprofen or naproxen
• Lithium
• Other blood pressure medicines, especially ACE inhibitors or aliskiren

Store Covance 50 Tablet in its original strip or box at room temperature, away from moisture, heat, and direct light.
