Eritel 40 Tablet

Eritel 40 Tablet is a prescription medicine that contains telmisartan 40 mg in each tablet. It belongs to a class of medicines called angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs), which are used to help lower high blood pressure and reduce strain on the heart and blood vessels. Eritel 40 Tablet may also be prescribed to lower the risk of certain heart and blood vessel problems in selected patients. This tablet is made by Eris Lifesciences and comes in a strip/box of 10 tablets.

How it works: Telmisartan in Eritel 40 Tablet blocks angiotensin II from tightening blood vessels. This helps the vessels relax and widen, which can lower blood pressure and make it easier for the heart to pump blood.

Eritel 40 Tablet is a mid-strength option compared with Eritel 20 Tablet and Eritel 80 Tablet. A doctor may choose Eritel 40 Tablet when 20 mg is not enough to control blood pressure, but 80 mg is more than needed or not yet appropriate. It is not a fast-feeling medicine; its benefit builds with regular daily use, and the right strength depends on your blood pressure, kidney function, and other medicines.

• Swallow Eritel 40 Tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew unless your doctor specifically tells you to.

• If you miss a dose, take it when you remember unless it is almost time for the next dose; do not double up.
• Stand up slowly after taking it, especially when starting treatment or after a dose change.
• Do not stop Eritel 40 Tablet suddenly without medical advice.

Each Eritel 40 Tablet provides telmisartan 40 mg. This strength is commonly taken once daily, but the exact schedule and whether you need a different dose depend on your doctor’s plan and your response to treatment. Do not take more than prescribed; the maximum daily dose is determined by your prescriber, and the usual adult limit for telmisartan is 80 mg per day unless your doctor says otherwise.

• Eritel 40 Tablet can lower blood pressure too much in people who are dehydrated or salt-depleted, so be careful with vomiting, diarrhea, or heavy sweating.
• This medicine is not used during pregnancy because it can seriously harm an unborn baby.
• Tell your doctor if you have kidney disease, liver disease, heart failure, or narrowing of the kidney arteries.
• Avoid potassium salt substitutes and do not start potassium supplements unless your doctor approves them.
• Alcohol can increase dizziness or lightheadedness with Eritel 40 Tablet.
• Use caution when driving or standing up quickly until you know how this tablet affects you.
• Do not combine it with aliskiren in patients with diabetes, and avoid use with other medicines that may lower blood pressure too much unless supervised.

• NSAIDs such as ibuprofen or naproxen may reduce the blood-pressure effect and can raise kidney risk.
• Potassium supplements and potassium-containing salt substitutes may increase the risk of high potassium.
• Other blood pressure medicines, including diuretics, can increase dizziness or low blood pressure.
• Lithium levels can rise and become toxic when taken with telmisartan.
• Aliskiren is an important interaction to avoid in certain patients, especially those with diabetes.

Store Eritel 40 Tablet in its original strip/box at room temperature, away from excess heat, moisture, and direct light.
