Mactor 10 Tablet

Mactor 10 Tablet is a prescription tablet that contains atorvastatin 10 mg in each tablet. It belongs to the statin class of medicines, which are used to lower high cholesterol and triglycerides and to reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke in people at risk. Mactor 10 Tablet is commonly used alongside diet, exercise, and other heart-healthy measures. It is manufactured by Macleods Pharmaceuticals, India and supplied as a strip/box of 10 tablets.

How it works: Atorvastatin works by blocking an enzyme in the liver that helps make cholesterol, so the liver removes more LDL (“bad”) cholesterol from the blood. Because Mactor 10 Tablet is an oral tablet, it provides a steady daily dose of atorvastatin to help lower cholesterol over time.

Mactor 10 Tablet is the lower-strength atorvastatin tablet in this product line, while Mactor 40 Tablet contains a higher dose. This 10 mg tablet may be chosen when a doctor wants a gentler starting or maintenance dose, especially if cholesterol lowering is needed without moving directly to a stronger strength. It is not an over-the-counter option and should be used only if your prescriber has decided this strength is appropriate for you.

Each Mactor 10 Tablet contains atorvastatin 10 mg. The tablet is usually taken once daily, but your doctor may adjust how often you use it based on your cholesterol levels, other medicines, and how you respond. Do not exceed the dose prescribed for you; the maximum daily dose of atorvastatin is 80 mg, but the right dose for Mactor 10 Tablet must be decided by your prescriber.

• Tell your healthcare team about diabetes or prediabetes, because statins can slightly affect blood sugar in some people.
• Use caution with grapefruit juice and products made from grapefruit, which can increase atorvastatin exposure.
• This tablet is not for immediate relief of chest pain or sudden heart symptoms.

• HIV or hepatitis C medicines that affect CYP3A4
• Cyclosporine
• Other cholesterol medicines that can raise muscle-risk, such as gemfibrozil
