Rixant 20 Tablet

Rixant 20 Tablet is an oral anticoagulant that contains rivaroxaban 20 mg in each tablet. It belongs to the anti-coagulant medicine class and is used to help prevent and treat harmful blood clots. Rixant 20 Tablet may be prescribed for conditions such as deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, and to reduce the risk of stroke in certain people with atrial fibrillation.

How it works: Rivaroxaban in Rixant 20 Tablet blocks factor Xa, a protein your body uses to form blood clots. By slowing clot formation, the tablet helps prevent existing clots from getting bigger and lowers the chance of new clots forming.

Rixant 20 Tablet is a higher-strength rivaroxaban tablet, so it is not the same as lower-dose tablets that may be used for starting therapy or for different stages of treatment. Because it contains 20 mg per tablet, a doctor chooses it when a full treatment dose or a maintenance dose is appropriate based on the condition being treated and the person's bleeding risk. The Rixant 20 Tablet strength is best suited only for patients whose prescriber has specifically decided that this dose fits their treatment plan.

• Prevention of stroke in non-valvular atrial fibrillation
• Treatment of deep vein thrombosis (DVT)
• Treatment of pulmonary embolism (PE)
• Reduction of risk of recurrent DVT or PE
• Prevention of blood clots after certain medical situations as directed by a doctor

• Swallow Rixant 20 Tablet whole with water; do not crush, split, or chew it unless your doctor specifically tells you to.
• Take it with food unless your prescriber says otherwise, because rivaroxaban 20 mg is usually taken with a meal to help absorption.
• Take it at the same time each day to help you remember doses.
• If you miss a dose, follow your prescriber’s instructions right away; do not double up unless told to do so.
• Do not stop taking Rixant 20 Tablet on your own, because stopping suddenly can raise your risk of a clot or stroke.

Each Rixant 20 Tablet contains rivaroxaban 20 mg. This strength is often taken once daily for some approved uses, but your doctor may choose a different schedule depending on why you are taking it and your kidney function, bleeding risk, and other medicines. The maximum number of tablets per day is determined by the prescribed regimen, and you should only take the dose your doctor has ordered.

Common side effects of Rivaroxaban may include:

• Bleeding more easily than usual
• Bruising
• Nosebleeds
• Gum bleeding
• Upset stomach or nausea
• Tiredness or dizziness

• Rixant 20 Tablet can cause serious bleeding, so tell every healthcare provider that you take rivaroxaban before any procedure or surgery.
• Do not take this 20 mg strength without food if your prescriber has instructed it to be taken with a meal.
• Use extra caution if you have kidney disease, liver disease, a history of bleeding, or a recent stomach ulcer.
• Avoid or limit alcohol, since it can increase the chance of bleeding and falls.
• Be careful with activities that can cause injury, such as contact sports or using sharp tools.
• Do not take aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, or other blood thinners unless your doctor says it is safe.
• If you fall or hit your head while taking Rixant 20 Tablet, get medical advice promptly even if you feel fine.

• Aspirin and other NSAIDs such as ibuprofen or naproxen
• Other anticoagulants or antiplatelet medicines such as warfarin, clopidogrel, or heparin
• Strong CYP3A4/P-gp inhibitors or inducers that can change rivaroxaban levels
• Certain HIV or antifungal medicines that may raise bleeding risk
• Herbal products such as St. John’s wort that may reduce effectiveness

Store Rixant 20 Tablet in its original strip/box at room temperature, away from excess heat, moisture, and light.
