Olmetime 40 Tablet is a prescription tablet that contains olmesartan medoxomil 40 mg in each tablet. It belongs to the angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) class and is used to help lower high blood pressure in adults. By helping relax blood vessels, Olmetime 40 Tablet can make it easier for the heart to pump blood and may help reduce the risk of blood pressure-related complications.

How it works: Olmesartan medoxomil is converted in the body to its active form, which blocks angiotensin II from tightening blood vessels. In this tablet form, it helps blood vessels stay more relaxed so blood can flow more easily.

Olmetime 40 Tablet is the higher-strength version compared with Olmetime 20 Tablet, so it is generally used when a doctor feels a 40 mg tablet is appropriate for the patient’s blood pressure control needs. It is not usually the starting strength for everyone; some patients begin with a lower dose and are moved up to Olmetime 40 Tablet if more blood pressure reduction is needed or if their response to the lower strength is not enough.

• Swallow Olmetime 40 Tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew unless your doctor says otherwise.

• Diuretics such as hydrochlorothiazide or furosemide
• Potassium supplements, potassium-sparing diuretics, or salt substitutes containing potassium
• NSAIDs such as ibuprofen or naproxen
• Other blood pressure medicines, which may increase the risk of low blood pressure
• Lithium, which may have increased levels or toxicity
