Xirtam 20 Tablet is an oral prescription medicine that contains olmesartan medoxomil 20 mg in each tablet. It belongs to a group of medicines called angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs). Xirtam 20 Tablet is used to help lower high blood pressure, which can reduce the risk of stroke, heart attack, and kidney problems over time. It is made by Bayer Pharmaceuticals, India and comes in a strip/box of 10 tablets.

How it works: Olmesartan medoxomil is converted in the body to its active form, which blocks angiotensin II from tightening blood vessels. By relaxing the blood vessels, this Xirtam 20 Tablet helps blood flow more easily and lowers blood pressure.

Xirtam 20 Tablet is the 20 mg strength, which is a standard tablet strength for people whose blood pressure needs this specific dose and not a lower one. Compared with Xirtam 40 Tablet, this lower strength may be chosen when a doctor wants a moderate starting or maintenance dose, or when a person needs a smaller dose before moving up. It does not work faster than the higher strength; the main difference is the amount of medicine in each tablet.

• Potassium supplements or salt substitutes containing potassium
• NSAIDs such as ibuprofen or naproxen
• Other blood pressure medicines, especially diuretics or ACE inhibitors
• Lithium
• Drugs that raise potassium levels
