Olsertain 40 Tablet

Olsertain 40 Tablet is a prescription tablet containing olmesartan medoxomil 40 mg in each tablet. It belongs to a group of medicines called angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs). It is used to help treat high blood pressure in adults, which can lower the risk of stroke, heart attack, and kidney problems when used as directed. Olsertain 40 Tablet is made by Dr. Reddy's and is supplied as a strip/box of 10 tablets.

How it works: Olmesartan medoxomil works by blocking a hormone called angiotensin II, which normally tightens blood vessels. By relaxing the blood vessels, this tablet helps blood flow more easily and lowers blood pressure.

Olsertain 40 Tablet is a higher-strength option than Olsertain 20 Tablet, so it is generally chosen for people whose blood pressure has not been controlled well enough on a lower dose or who have been specifically assessed for this strength. Because each tablet contains 40 mg of olmesartan medoxomil, it may produce a stronger blood-pressure-lowering effect than the 20 mg tablet and is not meant to be started casually without medical advice.

• Tell your doctor if you have had swelling from blood pressure medicines before or if you are on dialysis.

• Potassium supplements or potassium-containing salt substitutes
• Diuretics or "water pills" that can increase dehydration or low blood pressure
• NSAIDs such as ibuprofen or naproxen, which may affect kidney function and blood pressure control
• Lithium, because levels can rise and cause toxicity
• Other blood pressure medicines that can add to low blood pressure
