Sitared-M XR100/500 Tablet is an oral diabetes medicine that contains sitagliptin 100 mg and metformin 500 mg in each extended-release tablet. It belongs to the DPP-4 inhibitor and biguanide drug classes and is used along with diet and exercise to help improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes. Sitared-M XR100/500 Tablet is not for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.

How it works: Sitagliptin helps your body release more insulin after meals and lowers the sugar signal from the liver by blocking the DPP-4 enzyme. Metformin helps reduce sugar made by the liver and helps your body use insulin better, while the tablet form provides extended release over time.

This Sitared-M XR100/500 Tablet is a higher-sitagliptin, lower-metformin extended-release strength compared with the other Sitared-M tablets and the higher-metformin XR option. A doctor may choose this strength for someone who needs strong sitagliptin coverage but a smaller metformin amount, or who is being stepped up from a lower dose and may tolerate the XR tablet better with a lower metformin load.

• Swallow Sitared-M XR100/500 Tablet whole with water; do not crush, split, or chew the extended-release tablet.

• If you miss a dose, take it when you remember unless it is almost time for the next dose; do not double up.

Each Sitared-M XR100/500 Tablet provides sitagliptin 100 mg plus metformin 500 mg in one extended-release tablet. This strength may be taken once daily when a prescriber decides it fits the patient's needs; the maximum daily amount depends on the full treatment plan, kidney function, and other medicines, so only the doctor should set the dose. Do not take more tablets than prescribed or change strengths on your own.

Common side effects of Sitagliptin + Metformin may include:
